Metallica’s James Hetfield Names the New Rock Band He’s Excited About — Futuro Chile

During these last few days on the podcast, The Metallica Report, the group’s vocalist, James Hetfield, referred to the new music he is currently listening to.

On this occasion, he pointed out that there is a particular group that has him quite excited. And that it is a band of old acquaintances. One of them was even sought out by Metallica to be part of the group.

Category 7 is the name of this metal and rock group, of which James Hetfield is also a friend of some of its musicians.

Regarding his discovery, “Papa Het” pointed out that he discovers music by listening to the radio. «It’s very easy to go to your playlists and listen to the same thing over and over again. “If I’m not listening to some kind of radio or someone else is in control, I’m not learning a lot of new things,” said James Hetfield.

He continued to elaborate on his response: “”I don’t like getting stuck in that rabbit hole of ‘if you like this, you might like this.’ Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn’t. “It’s a computer that tells me what I might like,” he says about sticking to the algorithm to learn new sounds.

Finally, he delivered his response: “Listening to the radio, I think the newest thing that surprised me and really made me smile was Category 7, a band that is kind of a collaboration of a few people. She was listening to him as he said, “That voice is amazing and sounds very familiar.”

Regarding the member that Metallica wanted to sign into their ranks, Hetfield said: “John Bush, our singer that we never got, is incredible,” he said, laughing.
