A tough defeat adds the Chilean tennis player to his record Christian Garin (100th in the ATP), because this Monday he fell in the rankings of the Rome Masters 1000 before the Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin (134°).

The duel between the national team and the European team was very long, because it lasted three hours and 16 minutes and it was 5-7, 7-6 (9) and 7-6 (2) for Kuku, and Garin missed two match points .

Like the entire match, the first set was very even, with both players holding serve until the eleventh game, when the Chilean saw an opportunity and broke, then sealed the set with his serve.

The second was different, because the Kazakh went 4-0 up with a double break, which forced the Arican to come back, a situation that occurred, because he took the set to a tie break, where he had a match point at 8-7, but he wasted it and they went to the third.

In the final there was also a break on each side and they went to the tiebreaker, where Kukushkin had more head and went to the second round.

Cristian Garín will now play in the Turin Challenger.

Jarry and Tabilo with rivals

In the Rome Masters there will be a Chilean presence in the main draw, where Nicolás Jarry and Alejandro Tabilo are seeded.

The Prince is free in the first round and awaits the winner of the match between Matteo Arnaldi or Tomás Machac.

While the left-hander is also bye on the opening day, and will face the winner of Yannick Hanfmann or Jakub Mensik.
