Borussia Dortmund eliminates PSG and is in the Champions League final

(CNN Spanish) — Borussia Dortmund gave a lesson in hierarchy at the Parc des Princes after beating Paris Saint-Germain 0-1 in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.

The German team arrived in the French capital with a 1-0 lead thanks to Niclas Füllkrug’s goal at the Signal Iduna Park stadium.

PSG, favorite to advance in this bracket if the performance of both teams during this tournament is taken into account, attacked a lot and did not achieve anything. It was the constant in the two semi-final matches: the lack of aim of their players, especially Ousmane Dembelé and Kylian Mbappé.

In the first half Gonçalo Ramos, Vitinha and neither Dembelé could not. Wasted options that reflected the dominance of the Parisian team but with the usefulness of a dull knife.

Dortmund, looking for a counterattack, almost opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a shot by Karim Adeyemi that was saved by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The second half began with a shot by Warren Zaire Emery that hit the post. It would be the first of several PSG balls hitting the post.

Borussia Dortmund’s goal came in the 50th minute, with a header from Mats Hummels after a corner kick.

From there, PSG increased its offensive. He tried too many times (PSG’s 30 shots on goal compared to Dortmund’s 7, as you can see below the stats). Minute 60: Nuno Mendes’ shot hit the post. The snapshot was repeated in the 85th minute with Mbappé and two minutes later with a shot from Vitinha that hit the crossbar.

Luis Enrique, PSG coach, lamented from the bench.

The match ended and the overall score was 2-0. The German team won both games in the series. A big hit not only for winning in Paris, but because the team that occupies fifth place in the Bundesliga will play in the Champions League final on June 1 at Wembley.

Borussia Dormund will face the winner of the other semi-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
