Samsung’s new range of AI-powered TVs arrives in Spain, with the Neo QLED 8K model and its scaling technology

Samsung has presented in Spain its new range of televisions for 2024 powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Neo QLED and OLED, which includes the Neo QLED 8K model with the NQ8 IA Gen3 processor and its AI Upscaling Pro scaling technology, capable of automatically adjusting the image and sound to 8K quality.

The Korean technology company already unveiled its new line of televisions in January of this year, within the framework of CES 2024. Now, the televisions of the Neo QLED, OLED ranges and the Q series sound bars have reached Spain, where they will go on sale starting next May 15, as detailed by Samsung in a press event held this Wednesday.

The most powerful model of the new line, Neo QLED 8K, is equipped with the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, which integrates a neural processing unit (NPU) that is twice as fast as previous versions, thanks to its 512 neural networks.

As highlighted by the director of the TV/AV Business at Samsung Electronics Iberia, Nacho Monge, in statements to Europa Press, one of the most notable features of this model is the scaling capacity for images with the AI Upscaling Pro function.

This technology uses the processor’s deep learning and 8K technology to automatically adjust the quality of the image being played, regardless of the content. That is, it improves to 8K the image quality of television programs or, as Monge has exemplified, videos recorded by any user with a smartphone.

Likewise, the Neo QLED 8K offers different image technologies based on the AI of its processor, with which it highlights the most subtle details of scenes with “clarity and naturalness.” One of these technologies is the AI Motion Enhancer Pro function, which offers more sharpness and fluidity in images with action scenes or fast movements.

Additionally, Real Depth Enhancer Pro mode adds more realistic depth to images by recognizing the type of content being played and adjusting parameters automatically.

For gamer user experiences, the TV’s Auto Game Mode allows you to optimize visual effects and audio to achieve a more immersive experience, and with Gaming X Motion it reaches a refresh rate of up to 240Hz. On the other hand, AI Energy Mode allows you to save energy “without compromising image quality.”

Another aspect that the company has highlighted is the sound offered by the Neo QLED 8K televisions, with audio improved with AI. In this sense, it has the Active Voice Amplifier Pro function, which separates the dialogues from the background sound, so that they can be heard clearly at all times. They also include Object Tracking Sound Pro technology, which automatically identifies where the sound is based on the action on the screen and synchronizes it with the speakers.

The new Neo QLED 8K televisions will be available in Spain with the QN900D and QN800D models in sizes of 65, 75 and 85 inches. In addition, the QN990D model will have a size of 98 inches, setting “new standards” in the large screen category.

NEW NEO QLED 4K AND OLED MODELS

Samsung has also introduced the new Neo QLED 4K TVs, which incorporate the innovations and technologies of the Neo QLED 8K TVs, but powered by the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor. Likewise, they have Real Depth Enhancer Pro and Quantum Matrix technology, which achieves high contrast in each scene.

Likewise, this range is equipped with “the world’s first screen” with the Pantone Validated seal, which translates into greater color accuracy. In addition, it also offers high sound quality with Dolby Atmos.

As for the new OLED televisions, also powered by the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor, Nacho Monge has highlighted the Glare Free anti-reflective technology, which eliminates unnecessary brightness from external light and preserves deep blacks in any lighting condition.

In addition, they also include the Motion Xcelerator function with which it reaches a refresh rate of 144Hz to ensure smooth movement and fast response.

The 2024 Neo QLED 4K TVs will be available in sizes from 43 to 98 inches. For their part, the OLED televisions available in the S95D, S90D and S85D models can be obtained in sizes from 48 to 83 inches.

AI FEATURES IN THE CONNECTED HOME

As shared by the Samsung manager, the company pursues the objective of implementing the concept of the television as the “center of the home.” To this end, it has highlighted the advanced connectivity capabilities that its new televisions include thanks to AI, as well as the set of functions, applications and smart platforms.

The new Samsung televisions have the Tizen operating system, which facilitates a connected, personalized and secure ecosystem. In fact, this connectivity is observed as the new device is turned on, capable of being easily configured by automatically recognizing existing networks and devices in the home.

In addition, all home devices, from lighting to security sensors, can be managed directly from the television screen, as well as from the smartphone with the Smart Mobile Connect application.

In this way, Samsung aims for the devices to integrate “effortlessly” into the users’ digital world, transforming the screens into “the central axis” of all their needs.

However, Monge has also indicated that, until now, users “were not very aware” of the capabilities of AI and that, although “they are increasingly familiar” with its use in the home, for the moment, they are in a period in which they have to get used to its use on a daily basis.

Another issue that Monge has highlighted is the protection of data and privacy that Samsung offers with its Knox security system, which offers a triple layer of security to encrypt devices.

SOUND AND DESIGN WITH MUSIC FRAME

At the event, Samsung also showed off its new Music Frame speaker, which combines high-quality audio with an artistic design inspired by The Frame television. It is a speaker with Dolby Atmos sound technology and smart features that allows users multiple customization options, whether to display photographs or works of art.

Thus, its design is reminiscent of a painting and with the Q-Symphony function it allows it to be paired with other sound devices, whether televisions, sound bars or other Music Frames to obtain a listening experience capable of adapting to any space.

On the other hand, this launch also includes the Q series sound bars with the Q990D model, which features Sound Grouping technology for vibrant and immersive sound. Likewise, the ultra-thin sound bars, S800D and S700D, have also been launched.

LEADER IN TELEVISION MANUFACTURING

With all this, the director of the TV Business at Samsung Iberia has highlighted that the company has been positioned as a world leader in the manufacture of televisions for 18 years.

In fact, it has highlighted Samsung’s ability to become the leader in the television market in 2023 in Spain, highlighting the sale of large format televisions with a 27 percent market share.

Looking at the forecasts for this year in Spain, Monge has indicated that he expects an “exceptional” second half of the year, since, as he has said, the consumer expects new technologies and new innovations, something that Samsung offers with its new proposal.
