This infrastructure also has four pediatric consultations, two pediatric nursing and one of dentistry.
At the same time, the reform and modernization of the facilities throughout the center is being carried out. At present, it has a total built area of 2,064 meters, which will reach 2,500, so the extension is about 450 meters more.
The amount of the action is 2.2 million euros, of which 400,000 correspond to Feder 2021-2027, “and involves the improvement of health care in primary care at the Health Center of El Palmar, which translates into greater functionality and comfort for users,” said the Minister of Health, Juan José Pedreño, today during his visit to the center.
The works are also being carried out in the building to adapt it, that is more functional and submit to an energy rehabilitation, which includes the modernization and reform of the facilities throughout the center. It includes the improvement of energy efficiency in lighting, by replacing lamps and luminaires with other higher performance; the ventilation installation for inner air renewal and heat recovery; and the reform of the installation of computer science and telecommunications.
Pedreño said that “the expansion and reform works maintain their rhythm, so that the new health center can be opened this summer” and highlighted “the regional government’s commitment to the improvement of primary care, which in its 2023/2026 strategy, includes the optimization and reform of the facilities in which this care level is provided.”
The counselor also pointed out that “this new infrastructure will meet a demand for users of the basic health zone of El Palmar, so that citizens and professionals will have modern facilities to develop the Primary Care Assistance Program in the appropriate conditions.”
The Basic Health Zone 23 (Murcia- El Palmar) serves a total population of 26,550 inhabitants, of which 22,672 are adults and 3,878 correspond to children’s population. It has 16 family doctors, 4 pediatricians and 13 nurses, in addition to another 3 pediatric nurses, a school nurse, a midwife, a social worker, a oral and 9 administrative health unit.
