Medicine symposium, a success in Panama – Panamanian Football Federation

The Panamanian Federation host an event dedicated to doctors, physiotherapists, physical trainers, nutritionists and other professionals from Panama and abroad, linked to sports health.

With the participation of numerous doctors from the Concacaf area, the Panamanian Football Federation (FPF) successfully conducted its Football Medicine Symposium dedicated to issues related to the health of players.

The event was held on April 26 at the Miramar Intercontinental Hotel, on Balboa Avenue, in Panama City, and had the welcome words of Fernando Arceinterim president of the Federation.

The Symposium participated and international exhibitors of sports medicine from countries such as , Costa Rica, Canada, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Argentina.

Gerinaldo MartínezFPF doctor and president of the Concacaf Medical Commission, was one of those in charge of leading the act.

“It has been a high-level scientific-social event that marks a start in this type of activities in the Concacaf region, demonstrating that the growth of the Panamanian Football Federation has not only been in sports,” said Dr. Martínez.

In the Symposium of Medicine, issues related to the health of soccer players were covered, including great impact injuries such as the breakage of the anterior cross ligament, their diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation until the safe sports is achieved.

The event had the collaboration of the Panamanian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, who invited the Argentine doctor and Conmebol officer, the Dr. Matías Roby, who issued a conference on innovation in medicine and sports injuries.

Important issues such as the use of sports supplements and their relationship with doping were also touched.

Participants could also know how to and how the different organizational organization charts and structures are structured, both at the level of a federation and a club, having international exhibitors of the Football Federation, and the Saprissa Sports Club of Costa Rica.

There was also to touch topics of great media impact such as sudden and brain shock in football.

In summary, it was an event directed exclusively for doctors, physiotherapists, physical trainers, nutritionists and other professionals linked to sports health, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen the knowledge of medical practice in the field of football and high performance sport.
