At the meeting of the Secretary of Health of Zulia, Diego Muñoz; the director of Environmental Health, Noris Acosta; The director of Epidemiology, Claritza León and the representatives of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the epidemiological surveillance plan for the prevention of yellow fever was activated, according to health guidelines of the Ministry of Popular Power for Health and in articulation with this national portfolio.
The objective is the immunization of the population between 1 to 59 years with the anti -romium vaccine with a forceful strategy with the provision of biological supplies, promotion and dissemination of vaccination activities in the region.
With the activation of epidemiological surveillance, the border municipalities Colon, Catatumbo, Jesús María Semprún, Machiques de Perijá, Rosario de Perijá, Guajira, Mara, Jesús Enrique Lossada with a total population of 1,634,386 inhabitants in the border municipalities will be covered, however, it will continue to be vaccinated throughout the Zulia state.
The activities seek the transfer and distribution of supplies for vaccination by municipality, immunization in fixed positions with brigades in alcabalas, passenger terminals and border crossings.

Its symptoms may include fever, muscle, headaches, and in some cases severe jaundice and bleeding with a lethality that goes from 20 to 50%. Therefore, the early detention of the symptoms is crucial since they can be confused with other diseases ».
