The 108th edition of the Italian Giro will start this Friday, May 9 from Durrës, in Albania, with a historical ‘great out of Italian soil. The first great stages of the international cycling calendar will conclude on Sunday, June 1 in the Italian capital, Rome, after 21 stages and a total of 3,443.3 kilometers of travel.
Organized by RCS Sport, the Italian Round of 2025 will feature a luxury participation, led by Primoz Roglic, Juan Ayuso, Richard Carapaz, Nairo Quintana and Mikel Landa among the main candidates for the Maglia Rosa.
Tour of the Italy 2025
The layout of the 108th edition of the turn is characterized by its accumulated hardness: 52,500 meters of unevenness, 42.3 kilometers counterreloj distributed in two individual chronos and 38 kilometers of sterrato, with sections of earth in Stage 9, between gubbio and Siena.
The tour offers six favorable stages for sprinters, eight of half mountain and five high mountain, concentrated in a third week that will be decisive. The race will begin in Albania, with three inaugural stages that include an urban counterreloj in Tiranë, before crossing the Adriatic Sea towards Italy.
Among the most prominent ports are the Passo del Mortirolo, the Colle Delle Finestre (Cima Coppi of this edition), Valentino and Sestrière, which will host an arrival at high. The final stage will be a tribute to Pope Francis, with departure in Ciudad del Vaticano and arrival in the Maximum Circus of Rome.
