Saná, May 8 (EFE) .- The leader of the Houthi rebels of Yemen, Abdelmalek al Huti, rejected on Thursday the statements of US President, Donald Trump, about the “capitulation” of the group regarding the cessation of his attacks in the Red Sea and described the statements of “clowns”.
In a televised speech, Al Huti said that Trump’s announcement about the cessation of US military operations in Yemen was not the result of any “supplication or surrender” by the movement backed by Iran, but rather the reflection of Washington’s “failure” in his attacks against the rebels.
“The American statement to stop the aggression was not the result of any supplication or surrender. This is simply the kind of clown for which Trump is known,” he said, while confirming that the priority of the hutis is “to” support the Palestinian people and their beloved combatants, “in reference to the Islamist group Hamas.
He also said that his group has never maintained a position of weakness against the United States or negotiated with this country, which he described as “criminal, oppressor and arrogant.”
In addition, he indicated that despite the important damages inflicted by the US campaign initiated in mid -March against military and civil infrastructure in Yemen, Washington failed to stop the attacks of the Hutis against Israel.
-“The Americans have failed. It is true that many civil facilities destroyed and that there are hundreds of martyrs and injured among our beloved people. But they have not achieved at all stop the operations, destroy our capabilities or break the will of our beloved people,” he said.
In this sense, he reaffirmed that the group will continue with its military operations against Israel, a position that “remains firm and fully committed to support the Palestinian people.”
These actions will be carried out “through forceful attacks and drones in the occupied Palestine (Israel), or imposing a blockade of Israeli ships that sail through the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Bab to Mandeb Strait,” he threatened.
“If Americans get involved in any round of aggression, we are ready to face them,” he said.
This Tuesday, the US and Oman, who acted as a mediator, announced a high fire agreement with the rebels circumscribed to operations in the Red Sea, where freedom of navigation and commercial flow was in danger due to the offensive of the insurgents in the area. EFE
