The Junta de Andalucía performs a forest fire drill in Atlanterra to strengthen safety ·

The exercise, led by Mercedes Colombo, evaluates the emergency response and strengthens coordination in prevention.

The delegate of the of the Junta de Andalucía in the , Mercedes Colombo, has today attended a forest fire drill in Atlanterra, in the of Tarifa. This simulated exercise aims to the Coordination and Emergency Response protocols, especially over the high -risk period of fire. Colombo stressed that the activity reinforces the Board’s commitment to citizen security and the protection of the natural environment in the face of the risk of forest .

The delegate stressed that the drill is part of the continuous effort of the Andalusian government to improve the prevention, preparation and response to emergencies. “Constant , drills and improvement of resources to guarantee an effective response in real situations,” he said.

The drill was attended by the Territorial Delegate of Sustainability and Environment, Oscar Curtido, and the mayors of Tarifa, Barbate and Zahara de los Atunes. Also present were the equipment and devices involved in the emergency, such as Infoca, 112, Civil Guard, local police, firefighters and civil protection volunteers.

During the exercise, the Emergency Plan for Forest Fire of Andalusia (Infoca Plan) was tested, as well as the new management of the Andalusian Emergency Agency (EMA). The of the Emergency Digital Network (), the largest in Europe, to ensure the fluidity of communications and detect possible improvements in emergency management was also evaluated.

The drill involved 60 people and 31 material means, all of them coordinated from the advanced command post (PMA). The activation of the emergency infoca plan situation 1 allowed to simulate an intervention before a great magnitude forest fire.
