PITTSBURGH — Gary Sánchez pinch-hit and hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to lift the Milwaukee Brewers to a 7-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night and tie the four-game series.

With two outs, the Dominican Sánchez disappeared a sinker on a 0-2 count by Cuban Aroldis Chapman (0-2). The ball traveled 371 feet to right, putting the Brewers up 6-5.

Two of Sánchez’s three home runs this season came in this series. He also pulled it off Tuesday by driving in Milwaukee’s only run in a 2-1 loss.

The Brewers have won six of eight after taking the last two games of the series. The Pirates have lost eight of 10 after an 11-5 start.

Joey Bart put Pittsburgh ahead 3-1 in the first by hitting a three-run homer off Dominican starter Freddy Peralta.

It was the response to Venezuelan William Contreras’ fifth home run of the season in the top half. Contreras finished 2-for-4, with three runs scored and one RBI.

Peralta was relieved with two outs in the fifth.

For the Pirates, Dominican ONeil Cruz 2-1.
