Michael Clark rules out that remodeling of UC and Colo Colo stadiums will put pressure on La U | Soccer

This Thursday, the president of Azul Azul, Michael Clark, referred again to the historic desire of the University of Chile to have its own stadium, an issue that has been revived after it became known that Colo Colo is seeking to renovate the Monumental.

A situation that adds to the pressure that already existed on the secular team, after the Catholic University began the ambitious renovation of San Carlos de Apoquindo, and that will lead said campus to be one of the most modern in South America.

Faced with this, the leader of the Azul Azul concessionaire ruled out that the advances of his archrivals suggest extra pressure in the face of the long-awaited and long-awaited dream of La U’s own stadium.

“Regardless of other clubs advancing with their stadiums or announcing investment in their stadiums, I believe that (their own stadium) is a priority for the club,” Clark commented after the Shareholders’ Meeting.

Michael Clark insisted that “Regardless of whether another team is doing one thing or another, La U has to look at itself, it has to worry about its problems”.

He added that having a venue “has been a historical desire,” but also, he added, “not very conceptual, because the U feels very comfortable playing Ñuñoa.”

Michael Clark went into depth regarding the National Stadium, and added that it is “where La U has obtained” its “most important” achievements.

Furthermore, he said that “For the fans it is very comfortable, with four entrances, with good roads, with the Metro at the door, etc.”

However, he recognizes that the reality of the use of the National does put pressure on moving towards a stronghold that does not have to be shared or leased.

“What recent experience has shown us is that it is increasingly difficult to organize matches in the (Nacional) stadium, because it is obviously a public infrastructure and many people want to occupy that infrastructure,” said the president of Azul Azul.

He closed by explaining that he prefers that the institution work in silence and that “When we have something solid, that can be told, tell it. In the meantime, keep your mouth shut.”
