Matías Rojas was presented at a press conference this Friday at Inter Miami. And Gerardo Martino already confirmed that he will be on the team that will travel to Massachusetts to face the New England Revolution this Saturday, for the MLS. Before the meeting, which could be his possible debut, he spoke, of course, about his arrival at Las Garzas, about an offer he received from Boca, what stands out about Lionel Messi and more.

“When the opportunity appeared in March it was something shocking for us, as a family with my parents, because of what the players who are here generate, because of the teacher (Martino) who greatly influenced our team in Paraguay… We didn’t doubt it from any moment, and we wanted to take that small step to be able to close and be here,” the Paraguayan expressed at the start of the press conference.

“We see the league from there as top. It is an extraordinary league, There are too big leaps to Europe or wherever one wants to aim. It is also something very personal. We from Paraguay always saw the league as very competitive to continue growing. “It is a step forward from what we want and as I said a while ago, I never had any doubt,” he added.

Rojas also remembered his time at Racing, for which he was very grateful, as well as Corinthians, his last club: “I had a very emotional departure from Racing. They were four spectacular years. My family and I were fascinated with the institution. It was very emotional. Always one hundred percent grateful for the opportunity. The same with Corinthians. I have nothing to say, only thank you, it made me grow, enjoy football, learn a new language, I am passionate about languages ​​and I made several friends, so only thanks.”

Regarding Messi, the Paraguayan pointed out that what stands out the most is Leo’s level of competitiveness: “I try not to invade his space but take advantage of the opportunity to learn. He is a born winner. What I was able to realize these days is that he wants to win in everything he does every day. And that is an example from action for all of us, it takes us to the maximum and I think it is spectacular for the team.”

Finally, the Paraguayan mentioned that, before arriving at Inter Miami, Boca approached his representative, but that he already had his mind set on other directions: “I think Boca approached my representative. It is an extraordinary club as everyone knows, but I was already planning my career elsewhere.”
