Real Madrid won its 36th title in the Spanish League with four days left until the end of the 2023 and 2024 season. Firstly, they beat Cádiz at the Bernabeú by 3 to 0 and hours later they celebrated thanks to the fact that Barcelona, their immediate pursuer, the one who mathematically could still catch up, lost 4-2 against Girona, as a visitor.

Neither of the two Catalan teams will now be able to catch up to the already League champion in the four remaining days. With 87 points, the whites are 13 points ahead of Girona and 14 over Barça, and there are only 12 points left in dispute. In that sense, there is no better way than there is to wait for next Wednesday’s match at the Santiago Bernabéu against Bayern Munich, for the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals.

Real Madrid thus regains the throne in Spanish football, after losing the title to FC Barcelona last season. The people of the capital had won the trophy in the 2021-22 campaign, so they only had to wait two years to sing the alirón again.

In this way, Real Madrid wins its 36th league, being the club that has been champion of the Spanish First Division the most times. Before, the meringues had tasted glory in the following 35 years: 1932, 1933, 1954, 1955, 1957, 1958, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1972, 1975, 1976, 978, 1979, 1980, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2017, 2020 and 2022.
