César Luis Menottithe world champion coach with the Argentina team in 1978, former coach of Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid and current director of the National Teams, died this Sunday at the age of 85, reports the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

Born in Rosario (province of Santa Fe), ‘Flaco’ Menotti was one of the most important men in the history of Argentine football and responsible for the Albiceleste embroidering their first star on their chest in the World Cup organized in Argentina in 1978.
What did he die of?
‘Flaco’ had entered the Agote Sanatorium in Recoleta at the end of March due to severe anemia that was complicated by thrombophlebitis.according to Argentine media.
It is said that Menotti was conscious and in a common room, but he was very weak and for this reason his discharge was postponed until April 10. The Argentine press also reports that ‘Flaco’ was reluctant to see doctors until his condition became complicated and he had to be hospitalized.

In August of last year it was reported that Menotti had suffered an accident when he fell at his home, which caused internal bleeding for which he was hospitalized.
His last public appearance was on March 13, in a radio interview on Radio Splendid in Argentina.
