César Luis Menotti died this Sunday at the age of 85. The former coach of the Argentine soccer team was fired this Tuesday at a funeral that took place on the AFA grounds. Many Argentine soccer personalities were there.
Among the former players were Ubaldo Fillol and Daniel Alberto Passarellaworld champions in 1978.
Others present included the president of the AFA, Claudio Tapia, visibly moved carrying the coffin to the chapel located in the sports facilities.
Other Argentine soccer celebrities who were present were Ricardo Bochini, glory of Independiente, and José Néstor Pekerman, world champion with youth teams.
Relatives of Menotti also attended. They were personally greeted by Lionel Scaloni, the driver of the Argentine national team.
According to the EFE agency, one of Menotti’s children thanked him. “Claudio Tapia made sure that my old man lived his last years in the place that he always dreamed of, surely in the place that he loved the most,” declared Alejandro Menotti.
