Edwin Cardona, Atlético Nacional’s new hire for the next semester, experienced a distressing moment with his family after criminals shot at the vehicle in which they were traveling. The incident occurred last Saturday, June 15, and everything seems to indicate that it was an attempted theft in the municipality of San Jerónimo, Antioquia.
After what happened, The star of the Paisa team and his family talked about the incident and sent him a message of peace to all his followers, in addition to thanking them for their expressions of concern. They did it through a video published on the steering wheel’s social networks.
“We want to thank everyone for the expressions of affection and concern about what happened. As a family we were victims of an attack that is still being investigated to determine its purpose. “It is a regrettable and very sad fact for us as a family and above all to have to live with our children,” said the footballer’s wife.
“Thank you to all the Police who made themselves available. It is something hard that this happens in our country, but as a family we are fine. I send a big hug to everyone, thank you for those good wishes and messages. We are moving forward,” he said.
What do the Police say?
The Commander of the Antioquia Police Department, Colonel Carlos Andrés Martínez Romero, explained that armed men fired a shot at one of the side windows of the vehicle that was transporting Cardona and his loved ones.
“They block their vehicle and some guys on a motorcycle try to open it and shoot one of the windows,” he pointed.
This sad episode occurs a few days after Cardona was officially presented as a new Atlético Nacional player. “The offensive midfielder has always stood out for his good punching, power, clarity of passing and scoring ability. In his previous stages at the club, he won two titles and scored 29 goals,” the team indicated.
