CHICAGO — Cody Bellinger, Ian Happ and Christopher Morel each hit RBI singles as the Chicago Cubs scored three times in the eighth inning, en route to beating the San Francisco Giants 5-2 on Tuesday.

The Cubs thus ended a string of three losses.

Michael Busch opened the eighth inning against reliever Tyler Rogers (0-2) with a double that hit the wall between right and center field. It was his second hit of the game.

Bellinger followed with his second hit, placing the ball into the left side of the infield to break a 2-2 tie.

After a single by Seiya Suzuki, Happ hit a line drive that earned him his second hit of the night, down the right field line, to make the game 4-2. Morel came in as a pinch-hitter and added a groundout single that capped the rally.

Dansby Swanson hit a two-run homer for Chicago, which won for just the fourth time in 12 games.

Tyson Miller (2-0) got four outs in relief to take the win. Keegan Thompson took credit for the rescue.

For the Giants, Puerto Rican Heliot Ramos 0-4. Venezuelans Wilmer Flores 4-0, Thairo Estrada 4-0. Cuban Jorge Soler 3-0 with one scored.

For the Cubs, Panamanian Miguel Amaya is 3-1. Dominican Morel went 1-1 with an RBI.
