DENVER — Brenton Doyle broke the tie in the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly, and the Colorado Rockies bounced back from a tough loss to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-6 on Wednesday.
The fly ball to center field traveled far enough to give Jake Cave time to score from third base. Colorado won one night after blowing a five-run lead in the ninth inning to fall 11-9.
Cave and Dominican Elhehuris Montero opened the inning with singles against Dominican Yohan Ramírez (0-3).
Another Dominican, Adael Amador, reached base on a fielder’s choice. He hit a couple of hits in the game.
Michael Toglia homered and tripled, while Jalen Beeks (3-3) pitched one inning in relief as Colorado snapped a four-game losing streak.
Shohei Ohtani had a double, a single and three RBIs for Los Angeles. Freddie Freeman also had a pair of hits.
For the Dodgers, Dominican Teoscar Hernández was 1 for 4 with one run scored. Cuban Andy Pagés 5-2 with one scored. Venezuelan Miguel Rojas 1-0. Puerto Rican Kiké Hernández 3-1 with one scored.
For the Rockies, Venezuelan Ezequiel Tovar 0-4. The Dominicans Montero 4-1 with one run scored and one RBI, Amador 3-2.
