CHICAGO — Cuban Yordan Álvarez hit a home run in the first inning and drove in a run in a four-run seventh inning and the Houston Astros beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3 on Thursday.

Álvarez made it 1-0 with a 439-foot shot to right off Chris Flexen and with which he reached 15 home runs. His single in the seventh tied the game at 3. The two-time All-Star finished with three hits after missing the previous two games for family reasons.
