ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks are completing talks to trade productive Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans for a package expected to include two first-round draft picks, according to people with knowledge of the deal.

The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade had not been finalized by Friday evening.

The Hawks are expected to receive power forward Larry Nance Jr. and guard Dyson Daniels in the deal, as well as first-round picks in 2025 and 2029.

The Hawks selected Frenchman Zaccharie Risacher, the first overall pick in the NBA draft, on Wednesday before trading AJ Griffin to Houston on Thursday for a second-round pick that they used to obtain the rights to Serbian forward Nikola Djurisic.

The trade for Murray suggests the Hawks’ offseason reshuffle may be just beginning.

“We’re always going to look for ways to make the team better,” general manager Landry Fields said at Risacher’s first news conference in Atlanta. Fields did not speak other than an interest in trading veteran players.

The combination of Trae Young and Murray produced points but did not translate into playoff success. The Hawks finished 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 36-46 record on the season and have not won a playoff series since reaching the Eastern Conference finals in 2021.

The 2025 first-rounder in trade talks was acquired by New Orleans from the Los Angeles Lakers as part of the Anthony Davis trade in 2019. Details of the 2029 first-rounder were not final.

Murray, 27, averaged a career-high 22.5 points with 6.4 assists this season. He has averaged 15.4 points in seven seasons, including five with San Antonio.
