We already have architectural details, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 scores are not too good… At least for now!

For some time now there has been talk about the future of a Qualcomm that I would be hesitating between Samsung and TSMC lithographs before making the final leap to 2 and 3 nanometers, something that will happen after introducing us to a chipset in October Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 it’s ready being tested in the form of prototypes and that will require increasing the batteries to maintain an adequate autonomy commitment.
The most likely thing, according to rumors, is that Xiaomi will release it at the end of this year, 2024, while other information published by GizmoChina colleagues tells us several screenshots taken from a video leaked in Bilibili, where a Qualcomm engineering prototype undergoes an AnTuTu test with this Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 installed inside.
Obviously we are going to take everything with great sportsmanship, and we are still in very early dates of development to speak with sufficiency and reliability regarding the next cutting chipset premium from Qualcomm.
Be that as it may, the AnTuTu database reveals many architectural details of a CPU with eight cores that changes its configuration back to mode big.LITTLE (2 + 6) with high-performance cores and more efficient cores, but now without the low consumption ones. Perhaps here is the key to that required battery increase.
The chip tested under these conditions confirms two type cores ‘Phoenix M’ with a clock speed of 2.4 GHz, accompanied by six core ‘Phoenix L’ operating up to 1.94 GHz. Of course these data do not coincide with the 4 GHz that had been speculated, but the logical thing is that Qualcomm is testing the chip without pushing it to its limits yet frequency theorists.
The chipset codename would be “Sun for Arm x64” and its scores of 1,769,083 units are very far from those expectedeven below the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
There is a long way to go, but at least we now know that Qualcomm is working for the future and that Your Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will surely meet its dates Looking ahead to the last quarter of the year… Let’s see what those from San Diego surprise us with!
