MediaTek has announced that it will bring its latest SoC for televisions to Computex 2024. The Pentonic 800 is backed to deliver up to 50% faster AI than its predecessor, required for its enhanced Super Resolution 3.0 and AI-Picture Quality features. It is also said to support higher maximum refresh rates on a 4K display and could be used to make the Wi-Fi 7 TV of the future.

The Pentonic 800’s increased CPU and GPU speed compared to its 700 predecessor is critical to its Computex 2024 as is its APU – which is great, as image quality, clarity and The depth of the SoC apparently depends on the strength of the new AI platform.

Powers features like the latest versions of MediaTek AI Image Quality Object Recognition (2.5); Scene recognition with AI image quality (2.0+); AI-Super Resolution (3.0) and AI-Contrast (2.0). These features are touted to enhance signal upscaling and optimization, MEMC and depth rendering on a Pentonic 800 TV.

The SoC is also aimed at OEMs who want to make the 4K VRR of the future, with Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The platform also Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X for audio.

MediaTek also strongly hints that it could be installed alongside a Filogic own brand compatible with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 6, 6E or even 7 for wireless gaming.
