Google will update its data transfer tool to maintain the dynamism of iPhone ‘Live photos’

Google is preparing an update to its data transfer tool to prevent live photos sent from an iPhone to an Android device from losing their dynamism.

‘Live photo’ is a capture made with an iPhone that records what happens before and after the photograph, including the audio, resulting in a small video clip of about three seconds in length. Google also has a similar effect on ‘motion photos’.

When you transfer one of these dynamic captures from an iPhone to an Android phone, the motion is lost, resulting in just a static photo being sent. Something similar happens if you choose to store them in Google Photos; Live photos can be played in the cloud, but if they are downloaded, they are no longer clips.

To keep things dynamic, Google is working on its data transfer tool. Specifically, and as warned by the specialized portal Android Police, the update will be capable of converting iPhone ‘live photos’ into Android ‘motion photos’, as they have discovered in the application code.
