The Space Weather Prediction Center maintains a current geomagnetic storm warning, which could cause the appearance of Northern Lights again over the skies of North America.

The agency of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued the category G1 (lower risk) notice on the morning of June 3, which will remain in force until Tuesday, June 4.

Due to this, potential impacts of solar particles above the earth’s atmospherewhich could disturb the Earth’s magnetic field and cause the so-called northern lights.

In addition, it is warned that due to induced currents, weak fluctuations may occur in the electrical grid, in addition to causing a minor impact on satellite operations.

Will the Northern Lights be seen over Utah?

According to the Space Weather Prediction Center, the aurora could be visible at high latitudesthat is, in the northern part of the United States, such as northern Michigan and Maine.

Therefore, the probability of being able to observe this play of lights over the skies of Utah is minimal, however it is not ruled out, mainly for the northernmost regions of the state.

There would also be another opportunity to observe the northern lights this week, according to specialists, the enormous sunspot responsible for the lights seen last May still exists.

This cloud of solar particles is expected return to earth around June 6, and if conditions are optimal, the northern lights could appear again.
