Geoff Keighley confirms the games that will not appear at the Summer Game Fest

In the context of a talk for the public and press, Geoff Keighley has been in charge of setting expectations about what we are going to see at the Summer Game Fest gala next Friday the 7th (at 11:00 p.m. in Spain / 6:00 p.m. Argentina / 16:00 from Peru / 15:00 from Mexico). Far from wanting to inflate the balloon, the person in charge and presenter has decided to place the frame in the right place so as not to generate false illusions. “There will definitely be new announcements. But the show will focus on existing games “that seek to present news to fans.”

In fact, a certain identity has been established – somewhat informally – between the two major events led by Keighley. The Game Show, in addition to the awards ceremony, usually focuses more on the well-known “World Premiere”, games that are shown for the first time and that may not be released until many years later. While the Summer Game Fest focuses more on games that are on the starting ramp and that are looking for a media boost for their releases in the following months (or weeks, if we see, for example, a new trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree).

Kingdom Hearts 4 will not be at this gala

In fact, there is even a defined list of proper names that have already been confirmed not to be at the event:

  • Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
  • Kingdom Hearts 4
  • The Wolf Among Us 2
  • Judas

Geoff also talked about how much he would like Nintendo to be a big part of the Summer Game Event, something that has never happened nor will happen this year. The Kyoto company has its own Direct planned, on an unknown date within this June. To compensate, he confirmed two names that will appear at the event: the new game from the creators of Persona 5: Metaphor ReFantazio and Monster Hunter Wildsof which we already saw a fragment in the last State of Play.
