It was difficult to overcome the disappointment of the trailer for the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, but we fear that Ubisoft has overcome it. That caused such a barrage of criticism on networks that the developer found herself forced to delay it indefinitely, but at least it was a trailer. In the new one we barely have a logo and the promise that everything is going well and it will arrive in 2026. As if the history of premature smoke machine announcements wasn’t already extensive enough.

We will have to trust the words of the well-known insider Tom Henderson, who announced just a month ago that people had better “forget everything seen in the original trailer”. The game restarted development from scratch recently and has stopped being cartoon to opt for a “realistic approach”. What’s more, Henderson also talked about unpublished animations and All-new parkour and combat mechanics. Everything was even going to be re-recorded with new motion capture sessions and a new voice for the Prince (will he repeat in Spain Ricardo Escobar, the voice of Ted Mosby and from the original game?).

Maybe Ubisoft’s big mistake in 2020 was to put two newly formed studios in charge of the remake (Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, both from India and presumably chosen for the setting of the game). After all the complaints about the art and graphics of the first trailer, the company decided to take it off their hands and give it to those responsible for the original trilogy, the guys from Ubisoft Montreal. But of course, changes do not happen overnight. They demand time and even more so when Montreal was also in charge of the excellent The Lost Crown.

We will see what happens when Farah, the Prince and the Vizier return because there are people who still have their nerves. hairs stand on end when hearing the word ‘kakolookiyam’. And although they ended up buried by the Assassin’s Creed saga, the Prince of Persia games remain among the most loved and remembered from the PlayStation 2 era. The Sands of Time, The Soul of the Warrior and The Two Crowns formed an outstanding trilogy of platforms whose story, aesthetics and gameplay captivated an entire generation. Who doesn’t remember that destiny is like a river that flows in one direction, but we have seen the face of time and it is like an ocean in the storm?
