I was almost born with an NES under my arm and since then, playing has become a passion that has taken me here, to 3DJuegos, where I have been writing for more than 10 years and also serve as editor-in-chief. With more than 20 years of experience in video game journalism, I have been a big Nintendo fan since I was little, but having a PC in the late 90s also made me enjoy graphic adventures like Monkey Island, strategy games like Age of Empires or RPG like Baldur’s Gate. Movie fan, Star Wars mega fan and apprentice pianist, if you talk to me about Grim Fandango and I’ll buy you a beer. LinkedIn

Its announcement was a bombshell but its discreet graphics generated great rejection among fans, which motivated Ubisoft to delay and subsequently restart the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, the new version of one of the most influential video games in recent history. However, news about this project has arrived in dribs and drabs, almost always related to new delays. Today we hear about it again within the framework of Ubisoft Forward 2024, and it is great news, although it also means that we will have to wait a few years to be able to enjoy this remake.

Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will arrive in 2026, without going into more details about the game or showing what it currently looks like. The only thing we have had was a short teaser in which, from the inside of a room with a small unlit candle on the table, the passage of time inverted in the city in which the action of The Sands of Time takes place was shown, ending the scene with the candle completely lit .

A game with problematic development

Officially presented six years ago, the remake of The Sands of Time began in the hands of Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, but after the poor reception of the game and apparently multiple problems in its development, the French company chose to pass the baton to Ubisoft Montreal. It was also recently learned that the Authors of the Splinter Cell remake also collaborate on Prince of Persiaso those responsible have put all the means at their disposal to make this a game worthy of the legend of the original title.

“The title has already successfully passed its pre-production phase, and production is now beginning”

“In 2026, players will be able to reconnect with their beloved Prince in a completely rebuilt adventurewhich captures the magic of the original game,” says Ubisoft. “The title has already successfully passed its development phase. preproductionand its production now begins with the collaboration of Ubisoft
Toronto, Ubisoft Bucharest and E-Studio, which join forces with Ubisoft Montreal,” adds the French company.

Without more details to share for now, Ubisoft has given more news about other games in the saga such as the formidable Prince of Persia The Lost Crownwhich receives new free content and will soon have its first story DLC, and The Rogue Prince of Persia, which also expands its playable offering with more challenges and content.

In 3DGames | I’ve tried Star Wars Outlaws and it has everything you want from a big release, but also what you expect from a Star Wars game.

In 3DGames | I’ve watched about 45 minutes of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Ubisoft’s new open world in Japan is even bigger than you expect
