Google has begun testing in Brazil the functionalities driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) that will be integrated into the Android 15 operating system and that are focused on the theft of devices and the protection of the information they contain.

The company announced these features last May at the annual Google I/O developer event, where it also unveiled new AI tools and powerful language models.

Then, he commented that Android 15, whose beta he then made available to developers, had different ways to keep confidential data, files or documents stored safe “before, during and after” theft.

Among them, the so-called ‘Private Space’ stands out, which allows you to create a separate area of the device, which in turn can be hidden and blocked with an individual PIN number. With this, he pointed out a change in ‘Find my device’, which would also begin to require a PIN, a password or biometric authentication to disable it.

On the other hand, he commented on a theft detection option powered by Google AI, which quickly blocks the device if it identifies that someone has taken it from another person and tries to run, among other assumptions. This last feature would reach devices that have at least the Android 10 version later this year.

The company, which recently held the Conversations ’24 event in Brazil, has enabled testing of these features in this country and this is reflected on its website, where it has introduced a subscription form for those interested.

The company has specified that users may also need to enable other settings for the new anti-theft features in beta to work.
