Ubisoft continues to bring its games to Steam, which despite being a rival platform in its plans to concentrate its loyal players in the same place (Ubisoft Connect and the Ubisoft+ subscription) cannot afford not to be on Steam.

So Prince of Persia: The Lost Crownwhich is the latest game they have released (and also their game with the best reviews on Metacritic and from users in a long time) will arrive on Steam on August 8.

The listing for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is now available on Steam, where you can add it to your wishlist.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a masterpiece from Ubisoft Montpellier, a studio that hasn’t been able to sign its own game since Valiant Hearts in 2014 (and before that, Rayman Legends in 2013).

It is a very different title from the open-world third-person action games, or the online shooters, to which the studio is accustomed: a true metroidvania (like Hollow Knight or Metroid Dread) in 2D, with an emphasis on acrobatic combat.

Without being the most technically advanced game of the generation by any means, it has won the hearts of everyone who has played it and, being halfway through the year, it already seems like a serious candidate for Game of the Year…

Ubisoft returns to Steam but selectively

Ubisoft stopped launching its games on Steam in 2019, wanting to boost its own launcher, Ubisoft Connect, and its subscription plans with Ubisoft+, recently divided into Premium and Classics.

But a few years later they began to release games on Steam, although generally not at launch. The last of their AAAs to come out on Steam was The Crew Motorfest in April, while Assassin’s Creed Mirage (which predates Prince of Persia) is still missing.

On the other hand, some games are released on Steam if appropriate, such as The Rogue Prince of Persia, an indie experiment by Evil Empire that has been released on Steam in early access format, is now available, and is a perfect complement to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crowncoming to Steam on August 8.
