MADRID, June 20 (Portaltic/EP) –

snapchat has presented new tools powered by generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) to offer new augmented reality (AR) experiences and transform images in real time, which will soon arrive on mobile devices.

The company has commented and demonstrated how these tools work within the framework of the Augmented World Expo, which began on June 18 in California (United States), in a meeting in which its co-founder and director of technology, Bobby Murphy.

The manager has advanced that Snapchat teams have been working in recent months to accelerate machine learning models, coming to the conclusion that these must be significantly faster to have an impact on augmented reality.

As a result of this work, it has developed new generative AI tools for the mobile app that facilitate the creation of personalized AR effects, among which is a lens that modifies photographs in real time only with the description of a type of lens .

This way, the user will only need to enter an image idea -for example, 50s sci-fi film- to take the subject -be it a person, object or animal- who is posing in front of the camera to a film of this genre, while describing the image you want to see.

Snpachat has pointed out that these generative AI techniques also power other functionalities of the platform, such as Dreams – which provides personalized images based on selfies -, Bitmoji Backgrounds, Chat Wallpapers and AI Pets, among other.

On the other hand, he commented that he is incorporating an interface of this technology, GenAI Suite in the augmented reality creation tool Lens Studio, which allows creators of virtual experiences to generate personalized ‘machine learning’ models to configure their lenses.

This suite is part of the new Lens Studio 5.0 version, created “from scratch” to improve productivity, modularity and speed; an update that offers creators and developers new ways to create more complete projects.

Finally, he indicated that with these innovations he seeks to “empower anyone to express themselves” through the tools of Lens Studio and GenAI Suite, with tools with which they can “unleash new dimensions of creativity.”
