In a new scientific advance in this area, João Coelho, a researcher of Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), claimed to have detected the neutrino with the highest energy charge recorded so far. This was reported by the specialized magazine Nature following its coverage at the Neutrino 2024 conference in Milan, Italy.

The event took place between June 16 and 22, and Coehlo’s presentation was on June 18. The magazine reported that no details were given about the exact location where the discovery occurred or clues about which direction in the universe it came from.

The researcher said during his presentation that the entire study about this discovery will soon be presented in a scientific article and that there the details of the detected particle will be known.

Meanwhile, the neutrino telescope located in France, and in which research centers from several continents participate, will continue working to detect subatomic particles with a speed close to that of light (300,000 kilometers per second).
