Dinbandhu Midya, 18, found hanging at Bakcha’s Goramahal paan shop. His mother accused TMC of ‘murder’. Police investigation ongoing. High Court ordered state hospital postmortem with videography, questioning state infrastructure. Read Less
Dinbandhu had left his home on Thursday evening and when he did not return even after hours, his family members started searching for him. At 11pm, his body was found. A portion of his dhoti was torn and used to hang him from an iron rod. His family said his youth’s feet were touching the ground and there was blood on his knees.
On Friday, Justice Jay Sengupta turned down the plea for an autopsy in a Centre-run hospital and instead directed a postmortem of the body at a state-run hospital with videography. “If I am to pass an order based on the petitioner’s plea, then I have to assume that the state infrastructure has collapsed. Is this the reality,” Justice Sengupta asked. The court also gave a direction to preserve the body for two days and said it would hear the petitioner’s allegations on Monday.
Dinbandhu’s mother Henarani Midya said: “He left home at 7pm. At 9pm, he called to say that he would come home and have dinner. After some time, we could no longer contact him over phone. We searched for him and lodged a missing report. Police tracked the location of his phone’s tower and recovered his body inside a paan shop.”
“Since we support BJP, TMC workers regularly attack our house. They have killed my son,” Henarani added. TMC officials dismissed the allegations.
