FARGO — Mac Swanson scored just 13 seconds in and Merril Steenari added another goal shortly thereafter as the Fargo Force went on to beat Sioux City 5-0 on Sunday in the deciding Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.

For the Force, it will be their second consecutive Clark Cup Finals and chase now the club’s second title after winning in 2018. They’ll face Dubuque, the Eastern Conference winner after a sweep of Muskegon.

The Fighting Saints last won the Clark Cup in 2013.

Hampton Slukynsky pitched a shutout for the Force, stopping 21 shots. The netminder from Warroad, Minnesota, combined with Anton Castro, who saw his first action of the series, for Friday’s shutout in Sioux City.

Sioux City commanded a 2-1 series lead in this best-of-five series, earning a split in Fargo and going to its home rink, Tyson Events Center, where it claimed a 5-2 win only to see the Force rebound with a 5-0 victory on Friday.
