New Delhi: Police claimed to have made a breakthrough in a murder case reported at Alipur bus stop in northwest Delhi on April 22 and arrested three members of the first Sunil Tajpuria syndicate. The deceased was identified as Narender Malik.Tajpuria was murdered in Tihar jail last year by members of the Boxer-Gogi gang led by one Yogesh Tunda. Tajpuria’s right-hand man, Amit Dabang, wanted to avenge the killing and coordinated this hit on Malik from Mandoli jail two weeks ago, a senior police officer said. Confirming the gang war angle into the killing, the officer said that the deceased, Malik , was a member of the rival Boxer-Gogi gang. Malik’s brother, Surender, was an active member of the Gogi gang and is lodged in jail for the last four years in a murder case. After his brother’s incarceration, Malik had joined the gang and used to collect extortion money on behalf of the Gogi syndicate . This is how he came on the radar of Tajpuria syndicate. The developments, as TOI had reported earlier, has left the cops alarmed as it indicates the resurgence of Tajpuria syndicate, presumed to be a dying gang. Malik’s murder was solved on the basis of a number of leads generated during the probe. Five shooters were captured on a CCTV camera while fleeing the spot, police said, adding that the footage was circulated among informants and members of Gogi-Tajpuria gangster. The first to be identified from the footage was Sumit Jhumka, who is still at large, the officer said. Cops then interrogated Dabang in jail, and he identified the others as Sagar, Neeraj, Vishal and Bharat. A fifth suspect, supposedly an informant, was identified as Happy. “On the basis of technical surveillance and local intelligence, different teams were successful in apprehending three of the suspects named Vishal, Bharat and Happy,” the officer said, adding that the hunt is on for the others.Probe revealed that Happy was providing information about the targets to assailants on the call. It was he who confirmed that Malik was seated in a time near the bus stop after which the shooters arrived and started firing. Malik was shot around a dozen times. In the melee, another man named Tarun standing near the spot was also shot in the leg. During interrogation, Vishal revealed that Dabang had provided them a safe house in March and asked the shooters to gather there, police said, adding that also providing weapons and bikes the shooters were briefed about the targets just before the crime and put in touch with Happy for the coordinates.
