This Wednesday, May 8, the pop up exhibition “Mbili wa samaki”, fish body in Swahili, opens at the CLC Arte gallery in Valencia. An exhibition that houses 12 wooden fish carved by artisans from the island of Lamu, in Kenya, where they work … the Valencian entity One Day Yes (ODY) and which have been illustrated and intervened by artists such as Paco Roca, Paula Bonet or Ricardo Cávolo.
The fish collection of the One Day Yes entity once again unites African art with Valencian illustration. The exhibition will be on display at the CLC Arte gallery until Friday, when it will move to the La Nau venue to be part of the seventh edition of the València Illustration Days where ODY also participates with an awareness space.
Throughout the weekend from May 10 to 12, the ODY entity has a space at the Valencia Illustration Days to exhibit recycled wooden fish from African artisans brought from Kenya whose sale will benefit the NGO.
And we remember that the Valencia Illustration Days are coming to the heart of the city, on May 10, 11 and 12 in La Nau. In its seventh edition, they have prepared a program that puts illustration at the center and its thematic axis will revolve around the body (bodypainting, dance and tracing or tattooing); in addition to the consolidated illustration market, which this year is expanding and will occupy the cloister and the ambulatory with more than 160 illustrators. This year the solidarity action will be in favor of the NGO One Day Yes, for which they have invited a group of great artists who participate with the pop up fish exhibition “Mbili wa samaki” that will go up for auction on Sunday, May 12 as the closing of the event.
