TICONDEROGA — Nate LaCourse’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning on Tuesday lifted Ticonderoga to an 8-7 victory over Plattsburgh High in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball.

The Sentinels rallied from 4-1 and 7-4 deficits in the game, forcing extra innings with three runs at the bottom of the seventh.

Ticonderoga scored its three runs in the seventh after two were out with the help of three hits and a PHS error.

In the eighth, Tommy Montalbano led off with a single and was sacrificed to second by Collin Lauzon. Montalbano then scored the game-winning run when LaCourse had a walk-off, line-drive hit to left field.

Lauzon got the pitching win in relief by holding PHS scoreless in the eighth.

Jackson Dorsett and Dom Crossman led Ticonderoga offensively with a pair of singles each.

Nate Baker, Warren Miller, Kellen Abernethy and losing pitcher Dan Hartmann paced the Hornets with two hits each, with Braeden Calkins hitting a home run.

Miller pitched 5.2 innings, striking out 10 and walking four.

It was the second CVAC loss of the season for PHS, with both coming in extra innings.

BEEKMANTOWN — Rylan Garden’s single at the bottom of the seventh drove in the game-winning run as the Eagles edged the Vikings.

With the score tied at 7-all, Patrick Hagadorn led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, took second when Sam Bingel was hit by a pitch and came across to score on Garden’s hit.

Winning pitcher Zach LaPier, who took over for starter Nate Parliament in the seventh inning, combined with Parliament to strike out 13.

Garden paced the Eagles with three hits, while LaPier, Parliament, Jacob Lagree and Hagadorn added two apiece. One of Parliament’s hits was a triple.

Jacob Mascarenas accounted for three of the Moriah hits.

Beekmantown was down, 6-4, before rallying in the late innings.

“This was a good team win for us and hats off to Moriah and their coaching staff for getting their guys ready to play,” Beekmantown coach Dave Manney said.

“Isaac White pitched well for Moriah.”

SARANAC — Adrian Barnes went six innings for the pitching win as he allowed five hits, no walks, no earned runs and struck out nine.

At the plate, Barnes had a double, single and two walks.

“Adrian did a really good job in all facets of the game,” Saranac coach Robby Knowles said. “He reached base in all plate appearances, threw strikes and made plays defensively on the mound.”

Saranac held a 7-2 lead after three innings.

“We had another bad start to the game in the first inning where we gave them five outs,” Knowles said. “We can’t be giving away free outs, especially on routine plays.

“After the mistakes at the top of the first, we played error-free baseball the rest of the way. “Our guys are figuring it out and staying attention to detail to change the culture of our program.”

Losing pitcher Cedar Rivers had a double for one of Saranac Lake’s six hits.

LYON MOUNTAIN — The Cougars pulled away with three runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings.

It was a NAC home game played in Lyon Mountain.

Winning pitcher Garrett Pilon struck out four, walked three, hit two batters and allowed no earned runs in going the first six innings.

“Garrett Pilon buckled down after a rocky first two innings and gave us the length of start we needed by pitching six complete innings,” NCCS coach Jeff Norton said.

Jordan Wells led NCCS offensively with two doubles and three runs scored. Isaiah Abad added two singles and Evias Carpenter a double.

Losing pitcher Tripp Hicks held the Cougars to one run over the first three innings before NCCS started to break through. Five Bobcats had a hit each.

“NAC is playing good baseball and is well coached,” Norton said. “They put together tough at-bats, had pitchers who threw strikes and played pretty solid defense.

“They made it really tough on us before we could break through in the sixth and seventh innings.”

Donnie Mitchell added a single and triple, and Gavin Sypek added two singles for the Nighthawks. Duprey and Sypek combined to strike out seven.

“I thought Landen and Gavin did a very good job on the mound and we made some plays defensively when we needed to get out of an inning, especially in the third when AuSable Valley left the bases loaded,” Peru coach Brian Marino said.

Peru broke the game open with a six-run fifth where Mitchell tripled in a run, Trenton Taylor singled in two and Jake Frechette doubled in two more.
