With the consecutive increases in CNG, there is a noticeable “low consumption” as they stated to The Marplatense service station workers in Mar del Plata. The last increase was around 5% and took the cubic meter to $629.

Although complaints from consumers are heard, “people were aware of the increase because gasoline had increased and whenever that happens, CNG increases. Unfortunately, that’s how it is, everything increases,” said Luciano, from a station located on 20 de Septiembre and Juan B. Justo.

The worker confirmed that with the constant increases “there is a drop in consumption” and therefore “fewer meters of gas are being sold per month”.

In addition, he highlighted that changes are observed in consumer habits, such as the fact that “scheduled charges are seen. There is no longer the one who used to tell you ‘fill the tank’. Now they charge $3000, $4000, $5000. Because a full tank, if the tube is 10 meters long, is already more than 6,000 pesos.”

This Tuesday’s increase meant $30 per cubic meter of compressed natural gas. The previous increase had been on April 5, also 5%, so CNG had gone from $549 to $599.

In addition, Luciano highlighted the fact of how these increases affect taxi and taxi drivers. “It hits the pocketbook, because not being able to increase the rate makes it complicated. This was the fourth increase so far this year.”
