The problems continue in Escape from Tarkov. At the end of April, Battlestate Games surprised fans of the shooter by announcing a special edition that, with the name The Unheard Edition and a price of almost $300, would release a completely new modality in the form of DLC. However, this decision left out the players who They had previously paid about $150 for the previous Edge of the Darkness Edition, whose incentives included the ability to access and enjoy all game modes released in the future. This caused an unprecedented tug of war between user-study and, although it is true that the waters calmed down a little during the last few weeks, the developer is now back on track making a controversial decision.

As read in the official X profile of Escape from TarkovBattlestate Games has decided to provide financial compensation to all the players who jumped from the Edge of Darkness Edition (remember, priced at $150) to The Unheard Edition (original priced at almost $300) before a $50 discount was applied to this latest version. However, the reward has not been liked by community members.

“All players who upgraded to The Unheard Edition from the Edge of Darkness Edition before its price was reduced are eligible for a $50 compensation,” the team’s statement begins. “Please keep in mind that you can only use compensation once– If the cost of all the expansions you have selected is less than the compensation, the remaining balance cannot be used later. You can use the compensation in your profile on the Escape from Tarkov website“.

Escape from Tarkov fans react to Battlestate Games’ decision

In other words, we talk about a refund in the form of currency in-game; an idea that has not convinced the players who invested their money in the recent The Unheard Edition. For this reason, the Battlestate Games publication has been filled with negative comments and various criticisms, with messages such as “That’s not a refund, it looks more like a coupon“(HutchMF) or “One step forward, three steps back, guys. It’s an absolute joke, if you spend 10 dollars, you lose the other 40… Come on, this is not a refund, not even close to decent compensation“(Tarkovman). It remains to be seen how the Escape from Tarkov developers react to the overall response from their community.
