Everything ready for you Argentina and Canada inaugurate the edition number 48 of the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024a meeting in which, of course, will have the presence of the official mascot of the tournament, which was presented on December 7 during the draw for the Group stage of the competition, which occurred in Miami. After having had a dog (2020), a capybara (2019) and a fox (2015), the official mascot for this continental fair will be an eagle called CAPTAIN which represents the unique fusion between the South American passion for soccer and the vibrant American atmosphere. With a Latin mother and an American father, this bird invites us to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of South America and the North American country, while honoring and respecting the differences between both continents.
It is worth noting that, for the creation of this mascot, CONMEBOL considered the symbolic connection with the leadership and nobility that the eagle represents when selecting its name. Likewise, the organizers of the contest shared the main points that this new mascot represents:
- CAPTÁN, the mascot for the 48th edition of the oldest and most exciting national team tournament on the continent will be an eagle, which represents freedom, passion and the indomitable and determined spirit that characterizes the participating teams.
- The inspiration for choosing an eagle as the mascot of the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 was born from the symbology that this majestic animal has in various cultures in America; illustrating strength, boldness and excellence.
Being one of the elements that make up the contest, it is already expected to begin touring the competition stadiums, infecting all fans with the passion and love for soccer in the Copa América 2024, which will be played in USA from June 20 to July 14, 2024.
