Pemex crude oil exports to the United States fall to a historic low of 184 thousand barrels per day, reflecting AMLO’s strategy of prioritizing local refineries.

Mexican crude oil exports to the United States have reached a historic low. According to data from the Energy Information Administration of the United States Department of Energy (EIA), crude oil imports from Mexico fell to 184 thousand barrels per day last week, registering their lowest level since records began.

The previous minimum recorded was 208 thousand barrels at the beginning of last April, after the cuts implemented by Mexican Petroleum (Pemex) to prioritize the supply to the National Refining System (SNR)in an attempt to guarantee the supply of crude oil in the face of the collapse in the extraction levels recorded in April.

Pemex had already begun to reduce its crude oil exports since the beginning of 2024, partly due to the drop in the rate of crude oil extraction and to guarantee supply to the Dos Bocas refinery.
