Chilavert: A gas pipe exploded and the fire reached a home

San Martin

There was an injured person who jumped out of the second floor window to escape before the flames spread. The incident happened in Reconquista and Agüer, where patching work was being done.

Municipal workers carrying out patching works in San Martín accidentally punctured a gas master pipe, which produced a strong explosion and a fire that affected a PH with several apartments. There are two people injured and the Police evacuated the entire block.

The impressive accident occurred this Thursday at noon, on the corner of Reconquista and Professor Aguer, near the Chilavert station, in Villa Ballester. Volunteer Firefighters and Civil Defense work at the scene. A crew from the gas supply company also intervened, trying to repair the leak.

At the beginning of the week, the Municipality of San Martín had begun repaving the streets on the block. It would have been an excavator that broke the pipe that crossed under the asphalt.

“My whole house burst. It was truly crazy, a horror movie. My mother was saved because she was not there, but her room exploded. If she was there, she would die,” said a neighbor. “My house was destroyed, everything burned. “I lost my home and my cat,” he added.

“It’s a danger, because it seems like they can’t stop the gas leak,” said another neighbor who was affected by the explosion. “We have been waiting for three hours for them to fix it. “Everything is going to blow up,” she added.

In that context, Mario Oyarzo, head of the Villa Ballester fire station, explained: “We are waiting for the gas people to cut off the service to extinguish the fire. “They are looking for the valve to make the cut in the best way.”
