The volume of water retained in the country’s reservoirs exceeds 4,900 million cubic meters (m3), which represents 54% of the national capacity, reported the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources.

Only between June 22 and 24, Cuban reservoirs have increased their storage volume by 30.1 million m3, due to the rains recorded in recent days.

The highest levels are recorded in Pinar del Río, with 14.45 million m3; Isla de la Juventud, with 6.46; Villa Clara, with 4.17; Cienfuegos, with 3.68; and Sancti Spíritus, with 2.20. While the provinces with the highest capacity compared to capacity are Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Pinar del Río, Granma and Isla de la Juventud.

The information details that a total of 46 reservoirs are over 95% full of normal capacity, 30 are full and, of them, 19 are pouring, mainly in Pinar del Río, Isla de La Juventud and Mayabeque.

Regarding rainfall records, during the month of June 174.9 mm have accumulated in the country, 90% of the historical average for the month.

As a whole, the western provinces have averaged 276.2 mm, 120%; the central ones 156.3 mm, 75%; and the eastern ones 108.5 mm, 72%.

Likewise, the most significant provincial accumulations have been registered in the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, with 442.5 mm; Pinar del Río 319.0 mm; Artemis 317.1 mm; Mayabeque 284.4 mm and Havana with 260.7 mm of precipitation.
