A strong explosion occurred this afternoon in the Buenos Aires district of San Martín, where a machine that was being used for work on the pavement broke a gas master pipe and caused a fire in the area. There are two minor injuries.
The episode occurred in the town of Villa Ballester. As confirmed by the Municipality, the incident was alerted to emergencies and, consequently, the staff of the Naturgy Emergency Care Center was notified and are already working on site to solve the incident.
In this sense, they pointed out that what caused the episode was the depth at which the damaged pipe was located: it was 40 centimeters when the norm is 80. The procedure now consists of digging wells and hanging the pipes so that gas stops flowing. “You cannot close the master key because it is dangerous,” they warned from the municipality.
The gas distributor gave details about what happened and the work being carried out in the area to fix the incident: “A backhoe machine from a company that the municipality outsourced tore a pipe in the gas network and caused a leak. fire and subsequent explosion,” they said.
As a result of the explosion and the fire, two people were injured with minor injuries who are being treated, sources in the case confirmed.
A team of local firefighters is also working at the scene, who were present to collaborate jointly in controlling the fire, while seeking to determine the origin of the explosion.
The fire caused damage to the exterior of the houses, but also affected the interior of one of them.
Another woman, also affected by the incident, told how she experienced it and was worried about not having news of the whereabouts of her pets: “Windows were blown out. We lost everything. We are four departments that lost everything. We are four departments. “We don’t know anything about our animals, a dog disappeared.”
