The I Environmental Week of Xàbia It includes in its programming environmental workshops, an exhibition and the screening of a selection of short films related to the environment that have been chosen by the SunCine festival, one of the most important competitions on the national scene.
Additionally, on the 5th, the winners of the first Medi Ambient prizes in Xàbia will receive a very special trophy made by Miguel Ángel Miguel, the virtuoso gardener who models animal sculptures out of wood with his mechanical saw.
PROGRAMMING
-Thursday June 6 and Friday June 7, 7:30 p.m. at the House of Culture: screenings of short films from the SunCine festival
The Suncine, which is held in Barcelona, celebrates its 30th edition and in each edition invites us to reflect from the seventh art on the great challenge of the climate emergency. The following shorts will be screened at the House of Culture: Operation Pacific (Chile, Alejandra Araya, 2023); Voices of the water (Argentina, Juan Fernández Gebauer, 2023); The Tras Cycle (Portugal, Camera with no name, The Trash Traveler); women of the earth (Brazil, Oriane Laurie Marie Descout, 2023); mommy behind the wheel (Italy, Giulio Tonincelli, Paolo Fossati, 2023) and Grand premiere (USA, An Tran, 2023).
-From June 3 to 17: exhibition “Sustainable, inclusive and safe mobility”
In addition, at the desalination plant (Senia Vella s/n) you can visit the exhibition “Sustainable, inclusive and safe mobility” until June 17, organized together with the Environmental Education Center of the Valencian Community. The exhibition consists of a review of mobility throughout the history of humanity, through eight thematic blocks: What is mobility?; Means of transport; Urban mobility; Travel: Mobility in figures; Impacts generated by mobility; Sustainable, inclusive and safe mobility; Individual and collective actions; and, finally, Mobility and gender.
-Saturday, June 8: family environmental workshops
On the other hand, on Saturday June 8, boys and girls will be the main protagonists with workshops on the esplanade of the port of Xàbia from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., led by the company responsible for garbage collection, Tetma . Interactive cardboard game workshops, broom races, or painting workshops, among others, to teach them that we must recycle from home and they have to teach their parents that if we separate waste properly, everyone wins.
