About 600 students attend municipal workshops, green itineraries and ‘escape city’ – Córdoba

A total of 594 students from ten schools in Córdoba participate in the activities that the City Council’s Education Delegation has organized on the occasion of Environment Day, which is celebrated this Wednesday. These activities have consisted of environmental workshops, green itineraries and an exciting ‘escape city’. As detailed by the City Council in a note, the programming began on June 3 with the development of the aforementioned workshops in six schools, with the participation of 248 students. In addition, green itineraries have been organized through the Cruz Conde Park and the Sotos de la Albolafia, with the participation of 205 schoolchildren from two schools.

Both activities will run until June 7, providing students with a valuable hands-on learning opportunity about the environment. The highlight of the celebrations took place this Wednesday with a city game called ‘Water vs. Dry: The Guadalquivir River Mission’. In this activity, 141 students from CDP Ferroviario, CEIP Ciudad Jardín and CEIP Azahara de Villarrubia were organized into teams to participate in an exciting ‘escape city’.

During the activity, the students discovered the natural values ​​of the riparian forest, They explored the trees, observed birds in the Sotos de la Albolafia, examined fossils of ancient fauna and learned about the problems of desertification and how to combat it. At noon, participants gathered at the Road Traffic Education Center for the awards ceremony. The delegate of Education and Childhood, Narci Ruiz, presented the awards to the winning teams.

The first prize went to the Los Ornitorrincos Group of the CEIP Ciudad Jardín, the second prize went to the Los Mágicos Group of the CDP Ferroviarios and the third prize was awarded to the Los Verdes Group of the CEIP Azahara. Ruiz thanked all the students for their participation and highlighted the motto with which this year the event is celebrated. World Environment Day: ‘Our lands. Our future. We are the Restoration Generation.’
