Huachipato’s dream of advancing in the Copa Libertadores is over. The steel team fell 1-0 against Gremio under a deluge in Talcahuano and was eliminated in the group stage of the continental tournament, although it will have a consolation prize of going to the Copa Sudamericana.
After the defeat, the steel team regretted the setback against the Brazilian team and goalkeeper Martín Parra expressed his total disappointment.
“It’s a very bitter game for us, we had every expectation of being able to win it,” the goalkeeper of the plant team began by saying.
Furthermore, he added: “The goal conditions us a little, because it was very early, but even so the team showed the character of going forward and wanting to win, we had clear situations in both halves. We were vastly superior, we deserved to win and that is why it is the bitterness.”
Finally, Parra stated: “We wanted to continue in the Copa Libertadores, but on the other front (Copa Sudamericana) we are going to have to fight the same and whoever touches us, go as equals.”
