He National Weather Service (SNM) issued, on Wednesday afternoon, a flood warning for some towns in north central Puerto Rico due to the increase in rain detected in that area.

The municipalities under warning are:

  • Arecibo, Barceloneta, Florida and Manatí: The warning will be in effect until 1:45 p.m.

This warning includes the sectors of La Alianza, Bajadero, Pajonal, Imbery, La Luisa, Coto Norte, Sabana Hoyos, Animas, Búfalo, Tiburones, Garrochales and Tierras Nuevas Poniente.

  • Camuy, Hatillo, Isabela and Quebradillas: The warning will be in effect until 3:15 p.m.

This warning includes the sectors of Rafael González, Rafael Capó, San Antonio, Piedra Gorda, Cacao, Quebrada, Carrizales, Corcovado and Mora.

According to the SNM special bulletin, at least one inch of rain was recorded in these municipalities and at least an additional inch is expected, which could lead to minor flooding.

Citizens are urged not to cross flooded roads or roads affected due to other events related to rain and weather conditions.

Earlier, the SNM had predicted a Hot day, with heat indices rising above 100 degrees Fahrenheit (°F). However, the accumulated humidity, in combination with the heat, is expected to produce rains in the south, center and north of Puerto Ricowhile a tropical wave is expected to arrive on the island tonight.
