“It is indeed a matter of investigation. The law is clear that there is a range that is the absolute responsibility of the transmitting company; What is within 10 meters on both sides of the line, there is no doubt that the responsibility is ours. This is obviously outside this zone, within the territory of a private person, and therefore it is impossible to pronounce before the investigation.”said Villar.

He added that the firm’s work was concentrated in the first hours on replenishing the electricity supply for the distribution company.

“In order, our first effort is to recover the supply. We didn’t come here right away; First we work in blocks to recover the supply. Once recovered, our second priority is to repair the damage“, he pointed.

In addition, he emphasized that they will provide “all the information to the Superintendency for its investigation.”

In parallel, the company issued a statement in which it referred to the case, explaining that “due to the fall of a large tree, the Ochagavía La Florida transmission line failed, which affected nearly 450 thousand clients from Santiago, Ñuñoa, Macul, La Florida, San Joaquín, Peñalolén, Providencia, San Miguel and La Granja”.

“We regret the inconvenience caused and inform that, immediately after the failure occurred, our teams on the ground attended to the problem, managing to replace the entire supply around 4:30 a.m.,” the company said in said letter.

And he added that “our efforts will be focused on the repair of infrastructure. These operations will not affect the customers’ electricity supply, since the tower is de-energized, as a result of the service restoration maneuvers that we carried out,” concluded STM.
