The authorities of the city of Saint Petersburg, located 485 kilometers from the border with Finland, and the construction company Sinerguia signed this Friday an agreement of intentions for the construction of two new towers of the Lajta Center of the Russian gas giant Gazprom, of 703 and 555 meters high, which will make them the highest in Europe.

“The project to create these multifunctional centers (…) will allow us to change the historical image of the city and turn it into a business district of the future,” said the vice-governor of Saint Petersburg, Nikolai Lynchenko, on Telegram.

The agreement was signed within the framework of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum by the city’s deputy governor and the general director of Sinergia, Viktoria Nenadíshina.

Thus, the Gazprom headquarters, which is already the tallest building in Europe at 462 meters high, will not rise alone but will be accompanied by two other, taller buildings, one of which will become the second. tallest in the world, only surpassed by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

The project was presented in 2021 by the Government of Saint Petersburg, which defended that the trio of skyscrapers will form a “harmonious architectural ensemble” on the shores of the Gulf of Finland.

Construction of the remaining towers is scheduled to be completed in 2031.
